Educator
I've been tutoring about something since High School. Whether it was how to work AOL 2.0 (Yes, TWO.OH!) to how to work Windows 3.11. Tutoring has been easy for me and when others related to me that they understood something that I helped them with is when I began considering teaching. After serving my country and learning what I could about different trades I chose design and began working in the field.
Volunteer P.E. Instructor
My first teaching position began at a local private school. It was my job to supervise children during their P.E. time but eventually became a position of curriculum creation. It was not in the field of design but I was given the opportunity to work with children and to work directly with staff to create a curriculum that works for them. My background in the Army made me a good candidate to teach Physical Education to these kids. Once completed, the curriculum educated the children in the four sports the High School kids compete in and gave them a good foundation in those sports.
Independent Online Instructor
So what does one do when in-between jobs with not much to do? Why, teach of course! A friend was in need of learning MySQL so I created my own online learning environment using free software. The learning environment focused on three sections. The lesson, assignment, and discussion. I am considering doing some more of these classes in the future. It is a great way to stay honed in teaching and in your field. Below are links that pertain to this section, including a sample of the online class I've developed.
